Dr. Berger is a nationally recognized expert in the science of addiction and recovery. He is best known for his work on integrating modern psychotherapy with the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and for his insights into emotional sobriety. He is recognized for his outstanding teaching abilities, his insightful practice of psychotherapy, and as a very effective clinical and staff trainer. Dr. Berger is uniquely qualified: His own personal journey in recovery started in 1971 on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. It is noteworthy that this high school drop out returned to school and eventually was awarded a doctorate in clinical psychology from UC Davis in 1987. He had some exceptional clinical training during his education. Dr. Berger is the author of "12 Stupid Things That Mess Up Recovery".
