Senator Joseph Lieberman
4188 Views     5 Ratings
This video greeting was sent by Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman to the 800 participants of the 2011 National Jewish Retreat,  who were gathered in his home state to take part in this annual 5-day event.  His remarks reflect his great respect and encouragement for the participants who have dedicated their time to learning more about their Jewish identity.   Senator Lieberman touches upon the subject of his new book, The Gift of Rest: Rediscovering the Beauty of the Sabbath.  An admirer of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, he quotes the Rebbe’s profound insight into the meaning of the 7th day. Senator Lieberman offers the perspective that the Sabbath can be understood as a gift of time to appreciate that which is perfect in the world.
