There are two types of Jews in this post-emancipation era which we live in- universalists, those who believe that we don't need to stand out and proclaim our Jewishness, but rather, we are a general part of the world, and particularists, those who believe that even though we no longer live in a ghetto we should flaunt our uniqueness and look out for ourselves. In this talk, Rabbi Greenberg, the Chabad Shliach at Stanford University, explains what it means to be a Jew in the world nowadays- how we must combine the two ideas and be universal Jews who are also deeply rooted in the particulars of Judaism, as the Lubavitcher Rebbe did so successfully.
