Chassidut explains that there are three "garments" the soul wears: thought, speech, and deed.

The first rebbe of Chabad, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, says that when a person studies the Oral Law (anything outside of the Pentateuch, Prophets, or Writings) we must read the words aloud, and we must understand what we are reading.
These two qualifiers connect to the garments of thought and speech.

What is the significance of these two, and why are they a necessary part of Torah study?
Rabbi Moshe Leib Gray, shliach of Chabad on campus at Darmouth, explains.
