Perhaps the greatest innovation of the 20th century is the creation of the World Wide Web, the Internet. It is surely the most widely used innovation of the century, and its benefits are felt by all of society and affects every area of our lives. Commerce, information, politics and medicine have all been transformed by the Internet.
At the same time, the Internet poses a threat to unsuspecting people who don’t know how to correctly process information, how to establish credibility of a source or how to protect themselves from wandering into improper areas.
The Orthodox community, early on, has embraced the challenge of educating its youth and providing young people with the skills to make the right decisions when surfing the web.
In this presentation, Rabbi Yossi Simpson, the principal of the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva Elementary school- Crown Heights Division, provides opening remarks for an evening geared to the topic of internet safety.
