"Think Different" - Apple's slogan and mantra has changed the functionality of the world over. Steve Jobs' legacy, undoubtedly far-reaching and multidimensional, undoubtedly leaves us all with the inspiration to think outside the box. This coming Wednesday night begins the week-long celebration of Sukkot – the festival commemorating the protection G-d provided the Jewish people during their travels through the desert following the Exodus. During the coming week we will literally think - and live - outside our regular house-shaped box and regard our sukkah – a temporary dwelling – as our home throughout the week.
The shaking of the lulav is also a significant part of the Sukkot holiday. Four plant species, the lulav (palm branch), etrog (citron), hadas (myrtle) and arava (willow) represent four different personalities within the Jewish community. By holding them together on Sukkot, we emphasize the inherent unity amongst all of Israel. This holiday is marked with particularly exuberant celebrations of dancing and singing.
We hope you enjoy these video offerings and wish you and your family a joyous holiday!
