In this week’s Torah portion, we meet Jacob, the third and final forefather. We read the story of the quarrelsome relationship between Jacob and his twin, Esau, which began while they were in the womb. Jacob, also called Yisrael (Israel), is the Jewish leader from whom the Jewish people take their name, “B’nai Yisrael” (Children of Israel). His life represents the transition between the generation of the forefathers and the beginning of the development of the Jewish people as a nation consisting of twelve tribes. This week, we share with you a fascinating video with Rabbi Yitzchak Schochet which asks the question, “Were the Jewish leaders holy or human?” We hope you enjoy videos on this week’s parsha as well as the selection of new Torah Café videos!
