Rabbi Yacov Barber was born and raised in Sydney Australia. He began his rabbinical studies at Yeshivat Kol Torah in Jerusalem and then transferred to the Rabbinical College of Canada, where he studied under Rabbi P. Hirschsprung, the Chief Rabbi and Av Beth Din Of Montreal, later receiving his Rabbinical ordination from the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva in New York.
Rabbi Barber lives in Melbourne, Australia together with his wife Rivkie, where he is a Dayan in the interim Melbourne Beth Din, serves on the Rabbinic Board of Kosher Australia, and is the Rav of South Caulfield Hebrew Congregation.
