Mrs. Malka Werde

Malka Werde is presently Director of Chabad at FIT, a division of Chabad of Midtown. Originally from New York, she graduated from SUNY Buffalo where she met Chabad, became a Baalas Teshuva, and moved to Crown Heights to attend Machon Chana and Beis Rivka Seminary. She and her husband Yaakov married in 1975 and soon after moved to Florida to work on campus. Malka was cofounder of Jewish Women's University and lectured throughout South Florida.

Returning to the New York area, they settled in Morristown, New Jersey with their growing family. Malka spent the next 6 years as Hillel Director of SUNY at Rockland. She has chaperoned many Birthright trips and has inspired many students.

The Werdes still live in Morristown, and maintain an apartment in Manhattan in order to provide Shabbos meals for the students at FIT.
