The Zohar is famous for being a primary text of Kabbalah. There has, however, been much controversy over the origin and authenicity of the Zohar.

In this segment of the series "Intro to Kabbalah", Rabbi Yossi Paltiel offers an intruiging historical account of the life of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai (also known as the Rashbi) who has been established as the the original source of the ideas recorded in the Zohar. The Rashbi was a star student of the famous sage, Rabbi Akiva and his level of spiritual awareness was unmatched in Jewish history.
