The Darkest Day in the Jewish Year

During the coming week, we will mark the 9th of the Hebrew month of Av: the saddest day of the Jewish year. On this day, not only were both of the Holy Temples destroyed in Jerusalem, but numerous other tragedies befell the Jewish people –the failure of the Bar Kochba Rebellion, the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492 and the beginning of World War I. We remember and we mourn, but more importantly, we resolve that there should be a better and brighter future.

Shabbat Shalom,
